About Grief

Love and grief are 2 sides of the same ribbon.

Good funerals allow permission and safety for community grief and healing.

Greif is healing- crying, being listened to, journaling, being in nature, time with pets and body massage are examples of healing.

It’s natural to expect a variety of emotions when mourning a loss but grief is different and unique for everyone. Some emotions common to grief are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. There are also physical effects i.e. sleep disruption, digestive issues, aches and pains.

Grief doesn’t have a time line and can be triggered by events like birthdays, holidays, anniversaries.

We don’t forget our loved one, but over time we grow our lives around the grief so our grief doesn’t consume us.

There is no one size fits all approach. Understanding that grief is personal, respecting different grieving styles, and taking time to ask the bereaved what they need is the most help.
